A recent study concluded that for every 1000 children protected by mosquito nets, 5.5 lives would be saved each year.

Volunteer and help to stop Malaria

Welcome to the Malaria Operation homepage!

The Malaria Operation is all about empowering international volunteers to reduce the impact of malaria in rural Uganda.

No volunteer tourism here!  Only volunteers making meaningful impacts

The Malaria Operation takes a systematic approach to reducing malaria in Buyaya - our initial target area.

Every step of the process is covered: All the way from raising sponsorship money with which to buy the nets, through to follow up visits to ensure the nets are being used correctly.  Check out the full process here.

Resources Galore

We have a stack of resources available to help you make a difference.  Here is just a small sample of them.  Check out the rest here and here.

Lesson Plan Booklet
Our lesson plans are used to teach the locals about malaria in a very visual and interactive way.
Malaria Handouts
Everybody who attends a Community meeting gets issued with a comic-style handout summarizing what was taught
Training Manuals
Volunteer training is critical part of the Malaria Operation's success.  Upon arrival, all volunteers are taken through the basics of malaria and the process used by the Malaria Operation.
T-Shirts
We even have t-shirts available for the locals to wear as part of the interactive role-play lesson plans.  Some t-shirts designate the person as a mosquito, while others designate the person as a villager

Online Coordination

Everything is coordinated by our online Household Database.  This ensures that volunteers can easily pick where others have left off.

Check out the database here.
