The Heart of Uganda

Blaze a trail across the Heart of Uganda!  Make a real, positive, meaningful change to the Pearl of Africa.

By volunteering with the Heart of Uganda program, you'll be joining our team as we set up meaningful projects across the country.

You will:

  • Help to Set up a RYE School (see the Filipino equivalent here).

  • Check out if the SDM (Single Days Method) is viable in Uganda (see the Filipino equivalent here).
It may or may not be appropriate depending on HIV prevalence and other factors

  • Help set up an Human Rights education project
Many Ugandans are unaware of what their basic human rights are.  Understanding your rights is the first step to empowerment.

  • Help with a mosquito net program that is based on an Avon Lady type model
We'll be traveling to nearby Rwanda to check out a successful program there and hopefully replicate it.

  • Help to expand the Grassroots Uganda initiative
Grassroots Uganda is a craft group of women making jewelry from recycled poster paper.  Check out the Youtube video here.

  • Help set up other projects that we'll inevitably discover,

If you're looking for "volunteer tourism", then check out this volunteer placement organization.  You'll have many chances for pictures of yourself with "poor people".

If you're looking to make a real and meaningful change to those less fortunate than yourself, then apply for the Heart of Uganda program.
