Phonic Courses

Phonics One Course

This course takes the students through their basic ABCs.

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Recognize all the letters
    Including both CAPITAL and lowercase forms
     
  • Write all the letters
     
  • Make the short sounds for all the letters
    ah for the letter A, for example
     
  • Recongize three pictures for each letter
    Apple, Ant and Alligator are the words for the letter A

Phonics Two Course

This course teaches the students reading basic triplet words.  Triplet words have a consonant-vowel-consonant pattern.

By the end of this course, the students should be able to:

  • Read triplet words such as bat, hot, sit, hum and sun

  • Read basic sentences such as "The sun is hot"
     
  • Recognize the picture for several triplet words

Phonics Three Course

This course teaches students to read words with long vowel sounds.  These are typically words involving a silent e.

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Read words with a long vowel sound such as hate, hope, and time.
     
  • Read simple sentences such as: "Dave likes a Kate.  He hums a tune."
     
  • Recognize the picture for several long vowel words

Phonics Four Course

This course teaches the students how to read double letter consonant words such.

By the end of this course, the students should be able to:

  • Read double letter consonant words such as king, dragon, and trumpet.
     
  • Read sentences such as "The kind plays the trumpet on his sled"
     
  • Recognize the pictures for several double letter consonant words

Phonics Five Course

This course teaches the students how to read double letter vowel words.

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Read double letter vowel words such as feet, rain, and coil.
  • Read sentences such as "There is some hot tea and toast on the tray".
     
  • Recognize the pictures for several double letter vowel words
