Introducing Friends of Meaningful Volunteer

Ever since day one, Meaningful Volunteer has been funded by our staff and some generous donations by the Manley family in remembrance of Andy Manley who died tragically in a house explosion.

Meaningful Volunteer was founded way back in August 2008 with a dream of making the world just a little bit better.  Since then we have some great successes, including the construction of schools in Nepal and Uganda, and numerous other projects.

Our total student population is now at about 100 students.

We are now asking our supporters to help us in supporting our students and staff.

For just $7.50 a month, you can cover the costs of one student.

In return you will receive

  • The eternal gratitude of everyone here at Meaningful Volunteer, especially our amazing students.
  • Your name on the side of the school, similar to our Meaningful Contributors wall.
  • A special thank you message from one of our students.

School Lunch Supplies Heading to Nepal

Educate a Child, our wonderful partner, has offered to put on a fundraiser for our school in Nepal.

This has started the ball rolling and many other donors are stepping up!

We talked to Hema, our equally wonderful district manager for Nepal, and it was decided that some much needed lunch supplies were needed.

Items like cups, cutlery, and plates will be purchased.

Much thanks to Educate a Child and our other donors for thinking of our school in Nepal

The Importance of a Good Meal

Nothing is more important for a quality education than a full stomach.

It doesn't matter if you have the best teachers or attend the best school with the best resources.  If you don't have a full stomach, then you can't concentrate enough to retain the information. Sometimes you can't even stay awake.

This is why we have a meal everyday at all our schools.

Thanks to Mary for churning out these meals day after day.

Meaningful Volunteer is happy to announce our new partnership with Girls Matter.

Girls Matter is a new non-profit that aims to bring girls out of poverty via education scholarships.  As the girls rise, so will their family, community, and world.

We couldn't be more happy to be partnering with them.

Meaningful Volunteer will assist Girls Matter identifying suitable candidates in Buyaya and Rithepani.

Below are the girls who are currently part of Girls Matter.  Click for more info!

Students Helping out with Repairs to School

Some repairs needed to be done at our school in Uganda.  We were going to hire some contractors to do some of the work, but the students insisted on helping out.

It fills all of us here at Meaningful Volunteer with so much gratitude when we see the students taking such pride in their school.

Well done everyone!
